It’s hard to put into words how much this film means to me; it feels deeply personal. I was born in the same Oldham hospital mentioned in the film and even had my appendix removed there when I was 8. Hearing Patrick Steptoe, brilliantly portrayed by Bill Nighy, mention that Oldham's hospital is better than Cambridge's was such a special touch. The film centers on a woman determined to have a baby, eventually succeeding thanks to groundbreaking medical techniques developed primarily in Cambridge and Oldham. It’s incredible to imagine the joy this brought, not just to the mother and the pioneering scientists, but also to the actors bringing the story to life, and to someone like me from Oldham, watching it unfold.Leggi tutto
