Initially, I wasn’t particularly excited to watch this show, as the trailer didn’t grab my attention. However, I decided to give it a shot because of Lisa Kudrow, the adventure genre, and its status as an Apple TV Plus comedy.
At first, the show felt quite ordinary—childish, average, and predictable. I even considered quitting after 20 minutes. But as I kept watching, I found myself enjoying it more. I ended up watching both episodes. While the runtime is decent, I usually prefer shorter comedy episodes. This was my first adventure-themed show, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it.
The humor was light but enjoyable, and the overall vibe of the show was refreshing. The cast stood out, especially the young actor, who gave a strong performance, and Lisa Kudrow, who remains fantastic. I appreciated the visuals, the tone, and the subtle historical touches. I haven’t seen the 1981 movie it’s based on, but that didn’t seem to matter—I’m hooked on the series and plan to keep watching.
A few improvements could have made it even better: some romantic tension, shorter episodes (under 30 minutes), and a full-season release instead of two episodes a week. Still, it’s an enjoyable and lighthearted watch. While it may not appeal to everyone, it resonated with me, offering a fun escape from reality. Rating: 6/10.
Update:
Having finished all the episodes, my opinion remains the same. The show is more enjoyable if you don’t overthink it, and kids will likely appreciate it even more. The ending was unpredictable, which was a nice surprise, though it concluded on a cliffhanger, suggesting hopes for a second season. While I’m unsure if a continuation is necessary, I’d still watch it if it happens.
